Kunstverket Galleri, Oslo

Kunstverket Galleri is a leading gallery for contemporary fine art prints based in central Oslo, Norway. Our main focus is to promote and display high quality works on paper of artists from the Nordic countries. This year we present new prints by the following artists: Hanne Borchgrevink, Lars Lerin, Tore Hansen, Annette Kierulf and Ellen Karin Mæhlum. Each artist capturing their own interpretation of the distinguished Nordic landscape, iconic imagery combined with excellent craftsmanship which has given each of them a noticeable standing on the Nordic art scene. Techniques presented: woodcut, etching/aquarelle, carborundum/monotype/aquarelle.

The gallery has, since its establishment in 1989, worked with contemporary prints and works on paper as a serious contributor to the Nordic contemporary art scene. Being the only participating gallery at LOPF from the Nordic countries, it presents us with the unique opportunity to bring our artists and the high level of craftsmanship into the spotlight for an international audience.

Nordic printmaking as a tradition started when Edvard Munch (1863-1944) experimented with graphic art as a contemporary medium in the 1890s. Building on these traditions, Nordic artists have since evolved printmaking. Common influences being a melancholic sense, and a strong connection to the characteristic nature of the Nordic regions.
