Canaletto's 34 views of Venice and environs were published under the title Vedute altre prese dai luoghi altre ideate in the 1740’s. Bromberg 11, second state of three. She speculates that this plate may have been done around the same time as the Imaginary View of Venice dated in the plate 1741. The first state is exceedingly rare, being cited in only two museum collections. Watermark: Three crescents. A fine impression with small margins all round. These lightly mat-burned at the edges, otherwise in good condition.
