Paul Dewis processes the urban environment through photography, giving a filmic quality to his abstract prints. He documents and deconstructs, reworking what he sees into mesh-like surfaces with multiple levels of texture. Photographs are processed in the darkroom with spontaneous chemical marks, which are then translated by Dewis into the more graphic language of the woodcut.
