Unique Print. Benjamin’s works speak to his enduring interest in landscape and mountains as subjects in art but which increasingly use windows and interior space to explore spatial possibilities in painting. He is interested in the ways in which people relate to landscapes culturally and the role that painting has played in forming these relationships. The use of pattern in these interiors is significant, representing to Deakin the interplay of visual ideas between cultures. Many of the patterns are derived from William Morris’ designs who Deakin sees as an example of a quintessentially British aesthetic which was strongly influenced by Asian and the middle eastern styles. Framed size, 50 x 58 cm for £ 1100.
