Edition of 50. Toby Paterson studied at Glasgow School of Art in the 1990s. In 2002 he won the Beck's Futures Prize, and was commissioned by BBC Scotland to install a work outside their headquarters in Glasgow.
Paterson's work is influenced by a physical place and its history, considering how a place came to be as it is today - he is particularly interested in the impact of post-war Britain. In addition to prints, he has made drawings, paintings and sculptures that prompt reflection on the viewer's surrounding environment.
With its geometric forms and flat areas of considered colour this work is highly representative of Toby Paterson’s artistic practice, which lends itself to the screenprinting medium. Paterson worked with screenprinting on a number of occasions and this work was produced at Edinburgh Printmakers with the assistance of expert printers to achieve the very demanding and precise qualities required by his work.
