This poster was produced for Hommage à Cézanne, held at the Orangerie des Tuileries in Paris in 1954. Organised as a retrospective tribute to Paul Cézanne, the exhibition brought together key works from across his career, with particular emphasis on his late paintings.

The image is taken from Cézanne’s Bathers series, developed from the 1870s to 1906. By the mid-twentieth century, Cézanne’s work was widely recognised as central to the development of modern painting, and exhibitions such as this were part of a broader programme of post-war institutional retrospectives in Paris.
