Throughout the course of Hirst’s career, belief has been at the heart of his work. 'Fig.1 A Faint Hope Beyond the Fear of Death', 2005 exemplifies this through his portrayal a dove. Set in turquoise, the work reference's Hirst's formaldehyde sculpture with the same name, further accentuating Hope’s eternal presence. 'I was thinking that there are four important things in life: religion, love, art and science…Of them all, science seems to be the one right now. Like religion, it provides the glimmer of hope that maybe it will be all right in the end.'
