Linocut is a relief printmaking process similar to woodcut, but using a sheet of linoleum. The areas around the design are cut away, leaving the image in relief. The raised surface area is then inked and paper laid on top. The image is transferred onto the paper by rubbing with a spoon or similar tool, or by running through a press.
