In 1947 he was naturalised British, but in 1953 he returned to Europe and settled in Villeneuve in Switzerland, where he was based for the rest of his life.
On a return visit to London in 1967, Kokoschka made many sketches from a boat, the Nove. This original lithograph is from the suite of 9 related lithographs London from the River Thames, published by the Marlborough Gallery 1967, in an edition of 75 on Rives wove paper. Signed in pencil and numbered 53/75. Faint residual stains at the top right corner and at right edge in the borders.
