Binder of Women (West Wing)

Binder of Women challenges gender inequality in the art world through collaboration and direct support. The name stems from the 2012 U.S. presidential debate, where Mitt Romney, opposing Barack Obama, claimed to have “binders full of women” when discussing pay equity—a phrase that alienated women voters and became a viral meme. Equal gender representation and pay is a long standing issue in the art world and the Binder of Women seeks to address this through supportive collaboration as well creating a platform for contemporary female identifying artists to directly share their work. Conceived by Hilary Pecis in Los Angeles in 2017, the project was brought to London in 2022 by Pia Pack.
