Frederick Mulder Ltd
STAND W4
Frederick Mulder Ltd was founded in 1971, specialising in original European printmaking spanning five centuries, from 1470 to 1970. By the early 2000s, the gallery had established itself as one of the world's foremost dealers in the prints of Pablo Picasso and other Modern masters, including Edvard Munch and Henri Matisse - a distinction it has proudly maintained ever since. Frederick Mulder Ltd has been a member of the London Original Print Fair and of the International Fine Print Dealers Association (IFPDA) since their respective inceptions; its director, Anne-Françoise Gavanon, is recognised in The Spear's 500 as an 'Éminence Grise'.
For this LOPF edition, we are delighted to partner with Stephen Chambers, RA, who will be showing his newest series 'The Pomeranian Trees'. Over the past six years, Chambers has been leaving Berlin, heading northeast until he reaches West Pomerania, adjacent to the Oder Delta. It’s a trip he has made through the seasons. A harsh, vacant landscape; no hills, and a sharp horizon. A landscape, largely vacated in the middle of the last century and with its subsequent complicated history, it mostly ran wild.
Frederick Mulder Ltd will be exhibiting a select number of individual impressions from the 'Suite Vollard', alongside a group of prints illustrating Picasso's linocut practice. Though separated by period, style, and technique, both the linocut 'Tête de Femme de profil' and the etching 'Sculpteur songeant, Modèle aux Cheveux noirs et Bol avec trois Anémones' reach back towards the classical tradition. The first and second states of 'Avant la Pique.II' illuminate Picasso's creative methodology, while the unique proof of 'Femmes à leur Toilette' stands as a remarkable testament to the spirit of experimentation that runs throughout his entire artistic practice.
Stephen Chambers RA and Frederick Mulder Ltd look forward to welcoming you to their stand.
