Karhu's works are careful compilations of Japanese architecure as seen by him, and images of Kyoto where he lived most of his adult career. He is known for his brilliant use of vivid colours, combined with the strong black lines of the key block system. Karhu's works are represented in the collections of the British Museum and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts among others.
