Jo de Pear’s practice is rooted in collecting. The Heart Urchin, found on the sea bed in Antigua, becomes a quiet landscape of its own. With its spines fallen away, the surface reveals delicate nodules and an underbelly that feels abstract and other-worldly, transforming a found object into a space for reflection and memory. In studio visit the curators were reminded of Bandhani, an ancient Indian tie & dye technique.
