Edition of 20. John Bellany CBE (1942-2013) was a highly acclaimed Scottish painter and printmaker. He is best known for documenting the lives of the fishing communities of the east coast of Scotland and his images often feature themes of maritime life, Calvinist morality, and the female figure. Bellany also uses a lot of symbolism and iconography, with influences from Impressionism and Naïve painting.
He became Edinburgh Printmakers’ most prolific collaborating artist, producing over 60 print editions. His work is included among major collections including The Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Tate Britain, London.
