Zeinab Saleh has generously produced a limited edition print on the occasion of the exhibition, Art Now: Zeinab Saleh, at Tate Britain, 19 January – 23 June 2024.
Saleh’s limited edition for Tate has similar qualities, textures and colours to the drawings and paintings on display as part of the Art Now exhibition. The etching, titled Subtle waters, displays a balancing act of light and dark, shadows and form. Tranquil and delicate, this is a work of quiet contemplation, enabling the viewer to retrace moments of tenderness and moments of pause, enhanced by the colour palate of the intaglio printmaking. The image both entices and escapes immediate interpretation, leaving the viewer to fill in the gaps and continue to imagine what else might be revealed.
