Dominic Kemp Modern British Prints

Dominic Kemp specialises in the St Ives School, Neo-Romantics and artists whose primary concern was printmaking, such as Edward Bawden, Henry Cliffe, Stanley Hayter, Michael Rothenstein and Julian Trevelyan.

'I was inspired to deal in prints after meeting Terry Frost at his Gernickfield Studio overlooking Newlyn Harbour. He was working on a collage, adjusting a sprinkle of his familiar boat shapes over a background of vertical strips of painted card. ‘Aha!’ he said, ‘I’ve been trying to do that for ages.’ I felt I was there at the birth of something: he had combined two separate ideas for the very first time in order to produce a small maquette destined for the print studio. I was hooked. In 2007 I set up Dominic Kemp Modern British Prints and in 2010 my catalogue raisonné, Terry Frost Prints, was published.'
