Like most of Danielis’ works, the title comes from classical antiquity. Phaeton is the son of the sun god Helios in Greek mythology, who dreams of driving the sun’s chariot for one day, which overpowers him. The abstract composition conveys that sense of movement, melding excitement with a certain crescendo.
